What glasses will suit your face shape?

Letís be honest, we wear glasses because we have to - because they improve our eyesight and therefore our quality of life. So why shouldnít our eye-wear be a fashion statement on top of this? If you wear glasses every day, itís really important to choose a pair that suit you and make you feel confident and happy.

As we all know, everyone in the world has a unique and different face, so different glasses will suit some more than others. One thing that will really determine the types of glasses that suit you and which styles won't look as good, is your face shape.

Choosing a frame that complements your face shape is one of the most important considerations when selecting your glasses.

Most peopleís faces will fit into the main five shape categories - round, oval, square, base up triangle and base down triangle. This blog is a quick guide to face shapes and the different styles that we feel best suit these shapes...

The top option for oval faces is full rim and chunky frames, or unique thin round frames. However, we think that ovals are lucky in that almost any frame design will suit them!

Full rim and semi rimless frames will suit a round face more than rimless frames. We suggest trying angular, narrow frame styles as they will help to lengthen the face. Also, a clear bridge will help draw emphasis to your eyes.

If your cheekbones are well defined and prominent and your jaw is strong, we think round frames or square frames with round corners look great on you! Also try rimless and semi-rimless frames - this style can soften the jaw line, place emphasis on the eyes and lengthen the nose.

We think oval frames look great on base up triangle faces, but be careful with wholly round frames. Also we recommend avoiding design elements on the top of the frame.

Based down triangle shaped frames should draw attention to the eyes - widening and adding emphasis to the narrow upper third of the face. You will look great in wayfarer style frames, horn-rimmed frames and even cat eye frames, you lucky thing!

These are the basics of face shapes and frame styles- remember that there are no strict rules; itís about the frames that you like best!
